
✅ Swedish Meatballs with Gravy
🔹 Ingredients
For the Meatballs:
◾ 1 lb ground beef
◾ 1/2 lb ground pork (or all beef)
◾ 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
◾ 1/4 cup milk
◾ 1 small onion, finely grated or minced
◾ 1 egg
◾ 1/2 tsp garlic powder
◾ 1/4 tsp ground allspice
◾ 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
◾ Salt & pepper to taste
◾ 2 tbsp butter (for frying)
For the Gravy:
◾ 4 tbsp butter
◾ 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
◾ 2 cups beef broth
◾ 3/4 cup heavy cream or sour cream
◾ 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
◾ Salt & pepper to taste
🔹 Instructions
👉 Make the Meatballs:
◾ Soak breadcrumbs in milk for a few minutes.
◾ Mix in ground meats, onion, egg, and seasonings until just combined.
◾ Form 1-inch meatballs.
◾ Heat butter in a skillet and fry meatballs in batches until browned and cooked through. Set aside.
👉 Make the Gravy:
◾ In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour to form a roux. Cook 2–3 minutes.
◾ Gradually add beef broth while whisking until smooth. Simmer 3–5 minutes until thickened.
◾ Stir in cream and Worcestershire sauce, season with salt & pepper.
◾ Return meatballs to the gravy and simmer 5–10 minutes.
